the house and dog are clean, the yard is tidy, the tables are set up and there is delicious food in the fridge (yes, already delicious!) and more to arrive tomorrow.
not all the family will be here but many of them will be.

i’m rummaging through the attic looking for dishes and silverware and tablecloths. the dishwasher and i have simplified our lives by living with only what we need and the rest we’ve given away or saved in boxes up in the attic for occasions like these. it’s all a mishmash of stuff but it fits us.  i’ve collected leaves and pine cones and stones and berries for the table settings.  simple and rustic.

the weather here couldn’t be more perfect. high 60’s clear and sunny. a sweet breeze blowing.

these days we’ve been up and out to the ranch earlier than usual. it’s been clear and almost warm.  the wind is blowing enough to make the chimes sing all morning and the garden is enchanting right now but i’m out the door to work this afternoon and then the rest of the week is mine!
