the house and dog are clean, the yard is tidy, the tables are set up and there is delicious food in the fridge (yes, already delicious!) and more to arrive tomorrow.
not all the family will be here but many of them will be.
wishing you all a joyous and delicious thanksgiving.

i’m rummaging through the attic looking for dishes and silverware and tablecloths. the dishwasher and i have simplified our lives by living with only what we need and the rest we’ve given away or saved in boxes up in the attic for occasions like these. it’s all a mishmash of stuff but it fits us. i’ve collected leaves and pine cones and stones and berries for the table settings. simple and rustic.
the weather here couldn’t be more perfect. high 60’s clear and sunny. a sweet breeze blowing.

out the door
out the door
there is no telling where it will lead
a long time ago i was in a hotel on the beach in pusan, korea in the basement game room where i spent many many hours playing video games. i was usually alone in there but one day a young white boy in a black leather jacket walked in and started playing one of the machines. how it happened that all these years later i sit here married to that young boy’s older brother in a town i’d never heard of in a place i’d never imagined i could/would be is a long and winding story. the fact of it makes me happy and hopeful. the idea that something so unimaginable could be written in the stars and you have no idea!
