The Monk sent some very good photos from Taiwan. This is one of my favorites. Nothing is too horrible to contemplate loading up on these motorcycles.

Chilly mornings and warm days have got me feeling discombobulated. That and having 2/3 home. She leaves a wake of debris wherever she goes, bosses me around mercilessly and makes my stomache ache with worry when she’s out and about.

And now the Dishwasher is sick.

Time to start knitting.

Saturday the local yarn shop, Ball & Skein, had a sale. She didn’t have any of her super fancy hand dyed hand spun $50 and up per hank yarns there, just the ordinary wools, cottons, silks and blends. All half price. It was a feeding frenzy. There were women there with tote bags that said “eat, sleep & knit” and they weren’t kidding. I could tell. They all had giant boxes full of yarn to purchase and the line wound around the room. There I stood with my one little bag behind a woman who casually threw down $950 for her yarn. Enough yarn for years and years of worry.

More Flintstone jewelry.
A mess really but that’s in keeping with how I’m feeling just now. That strange little cold has turned into a full blown crazy ass cold. Yesterday Maria told me about a Mexican “remedio casero” (home remedy). It involves cinnamon sticks and garlic and I thought I might try it when I got home but I went for the ass kicking remedio instead. Benadryl.
And because I have yet to be sick enough not to want to eat, I made a broccoli rabe pasta with kalamata olives, garlic and chili peppers. That was pretty kick ass too.

In Sickness and Sloth

This is a Ruth Asawa sculpture hanging at the DeYoung Museum in San Francsico. I was hoping for a trip up again this weekend but decided to stay home and “nurse” this strange little cold. Nursing the cold entailed Huevos Rancheros for me and Eggs Benedict for the Dishwasher at the Redwood Cafe this morning followed by hours of tv. I watched The Haunting a 1960’s thriller that took me about 6 hours to watch thanks to tivo, while the Dishwasher worked at the computer most of the day. I snuck in a couple of 6 Ft Under episodes too, while glueing some layers of papers for books or cards.
All that laying around made us especially hungry for some of Deb’s (Wild Ginger) Mussels and now it’s a glass of brandy before bedtime.
San Francisco will be there in a couple of weeks if all goes well.
