So lovely! I adore scientific drawings. Absolutely adore them. I once thought I could be a field scientist walk around with a notebook drawing plants and insects. Naming them. I love that you named them. I had a bee in my car on the way home from work tonight I opened my window and asked him to leave. He did. It felt like a visitation.
These bring to mind Blashka's glass flowers at the Harvard Museum of Natural History: http://www.huh.harvard.edu/libraries/glass.htm.

I have a couple of Japanese embroidery books that I bought merely because they have wonderful 'creature designs' in them!
