Summer muscled its way in hard and fast. From one day to the next.
It’s still possible to walk in the morning and we do.
There have already been two snake bite fatalities in the valley. I’ve seen no tracks yet and I wonder about snake bite fatalities. Shouldn’t we have antidote stations around? Like little neighborhood library boxes but with anti-venom and water.
We walk along an alley lined with Creosote bushes full of little puff balls and Oleander with more blooms than leaves. The birds singing the sweetest melodies. Finches? I think.
We walked up to the cross today, the mountain was vaguely visible behind a veil of dust but it was clear at the cross and we sat in the chairs and watched a woman in her carport bouncing on her trampoline and our neighbors making their way down the trail back to the park where we live. A perfect morning walk.

This picture is from a few months back. It doesn’t convey how high up the hill it really is.
I entered this little weaving into a show up in Yucca Valley at the Nature Museum.
Wondrous Waste. It’s on view until May I think and if the show is anything like last year, it’s worth seeing.
My little weaving has my hand spun sewing pattern paper, buttons, snaps, lace, fabric and kitchen twine mounted on a found canvas I collaged with more sewing pattern paper.

It was a fun little experiment that happened to fit the brief for the show at just the right moment.
I’ve been deep in experiment mode for weeks now. There is a shift happening in my weaving that I’m curiously following. Not sure where it’s going but I’m happy to go along.
I started this series of “haiku weavings”. They’re tiny and they include “poems” found words. Some on paper some on fabric.
Here’s one of the first.
I love the size. So intimate and sweet, maybe they’ll go in a book or on a card.

Stay well and Don’t think about all those things you fear, just be glad to be here.
These are indeed sweet and I love how your projects (your muse?) are leading the way. That is when it is all really working.
Love to you both from Florida.

“……just be glad you’re here.” Thank you. Will use those words on a private piece for myself. So important for me as I “doomscroll”. Love from Templeton.

Oh no! It’s hard NOT to Doomscroll! I balance that with stupid silly dancing Frenchie videos and ice cream.
XOXO from the Desert.
