it’s been a dark and stormy couple of days around here
but the sun is out, the laundry is almost done and the dishwasher is cooking dinner.
this is a detail from one of his paintings.  one of my favorites of his. though i say that about all of his work.
the guys a freakin’ genius.

black white and red enso
started a little series of black and white enso but always the color creeps in.  that red was irresistable.
i got a preval spray gun and filled it with black ink found at Ichibankan Different Things!
it’s the deepest darkest black and it brushes on paper like a dream.
i’ve tried getting this ink with a stone and now i see. this depth of color would require hours of rubbing ink stone on stone to get this  black.
on fabric it sprayed on and dried gray.
then the paintsticks!  luscious metallic oil paintsticks!

quick and easy clock for the studio.
cut an old LACMA bag for the picture and had i cared i would have used a smooth piece of cardboard or canvas or board so the lines wouldn’t show on the face once it was glued.  cut to fit inside an old embroidery hoop and voila.
the possibilities are endless.

oh. my.
again i’m looking behind things. this old thing.  from my women’s work series of stitcheries.
life is feeling like Groundhog Day says my Dishwasher.
yes it is.
yes it is.

“without close neighbors to offer frequent advice, whether requested or not, the lady of each house kept a written record of helpful hints she learned from experience, read in newspapers, or learned from relatives or her infrequent visitors.   Some of the hints are quite clever though impractical by today’s standards because of expense: few people these days are able to afford to put black walnut shelves in kitchen cabinets to keep ants away.  Other hints do not particularly apply to our era of advanced technology.  Today one can buy a small, inexpensive night light to plug into a socket, in lieu of knowing how to make a candle burn all night.”
in this era of advanced technology one can find this
to finish this scarf to perfection.
the method worked so well i used it on a scarf i knit last year that i have always been disappointed in because of the curling issue.
thank you Salihan!

i got this shot at the ranch yesterday morning. it was foggy and dreamy and there was a whole field of these little webs.  this morning it was sunny and too warm for lu so we didn’t make it out to the field of webs.  we met a boy and his doberman wearing a bright blue scarf who was so smitten with lu i believe he might have followed us all the way home if we hadn’t run him off.

saturday and i’ve got glue on my fingers.
that’s a good day.
i bought eye make-up today and tried it on as soon as i got home. it looks like someone spilled gray glitter on my eyelids.
i think i can use it to paint with.
