my stitches

Finished ribbon lace scarf (from hell). It took forever because i kept skipping stitches or confusing stitches or dropping stitches and there wasn’t any ripping out there was only carefully and slowly unpicking stitches. over and over and over again. it should be longer but after two skeins of yarn i call it done. i started a simple stockinette stitch cardigan just to wash the bitter taste of lace patterns out of my life for the moment.

i don’t feel much like being in the studio finishing my other projects so i’m knitting and baking chocolate coconut macaroons.

it’s balmy and gunmetal gray out there. rain! please. rain.

Breakfast at the Blue House

It’s chilly this morning but soon it will be hot. Again. It’s been almost 80 degrees since Saturday. Where did winter go? It’s certainly not knitting weather. It’s gardening weather but all I seem to be able manage is watering. The weeds can have their fun. Their day will come.

Thank you Allene for the lovely lunch in the Alcove and all the goodies you gifted me. The rocker looks grand alongside it’s mates. I’ll have to post a pic for you to see. Your visit was inspiring.

The yoga mat awaits…

studio friday

In the studio this morning listening to the wind I finally finished the purple monster. The scarf that nearly wasn’t. I’m blocking it and can hardly wait to wear it. Also working on a vessel. ripped and sewn fabrics and now trying to figure how to stiffen it.
The fun never ends.
My hips ache.

chess set for the dishwasher

here it is. the chess set i struggled to complete before christmas morning and with which i am not very satisfied. adjustments must be made. the kings and queens (note how the white ones are leaning) are too tall and fall easily. i should have made the bottoms wider on all the back pieces. i will get to it but i’m resting my machine until the new year arrives. i do love the pawns though. the beady little eyes and pointy little ears are perfect.
i feel for the dishwasher, confessing to his colleagues what his wife gave him for christmas! bless his heart he loves me anyway.
